Research Affiliate membership

Our Research Affiliate members are companies that carry out their business in the UK and are engaged in the research and/or development of medicines for human use, but which have no sales of such products in the UK. Many of these are Contract Research or Contract Development Organisations.

How we support our Research Affiliate members

Industry monitoring and communication for members

Research members receive access to key information updates including:

  • Newsflash – weekly members update on headline issue
  • Weekly update – proactive support for members on upcoming media/environment issues
  • Daily government affairs reports
  • Key updates and publications around the pharmaceutical industry in the UK 
  • Feedback from meetings and discussions with key stakeholders in Government, the NHS and other groups

Examples of ABPI communications: Newsflash, Environment Report, Government Affairs Report, President’s Report. 

Networks and groups

Our expert networks and groups comprise member companies and ABPI representatives with expertise in a specific area of work. Groups work on the key issues that are affecting the industry. Research Affiliate members have the opportunity to apply to join working groups in accordance with the groups terms of engagement – sometimes numbers have to be limited.. These include the clinical research expert network, and other working groups requiring research expertise.

Research Affiliate members are also able to become observers of some groups to gain greatre insight into activities and group discussions.

Events

Research Affiliates receive invitations to selective events designed to update members on topical issues, providing excellent opportunities for networking and sharing members’ views.

Our events include: ABPI Annual Conference, R&D focussed events across a number of topics, briefings and regular master classes.

My ABPI

We continue to engage members through exclusive access to the Member's extranet - My ABPI – the portal for regular and timely communications on ABPI working groups, consultations and discussion forums.

How to apply 

To apply for membership, complete and return the application form. All applications for membership of the ABPI are reviewed by the ABPI Board. Further details about the application process can be found on our frequently asked questions page.

Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority (PMCPA)

The Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority (PMCPA) was established by The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry to operate the ABPI Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry independently of the ABPI. The PMCPA is a division of ABPI which is a company registered in England and Wales (registered number 09826787) with its registered office at 7th Floor, Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6QT.

Office of Health Economics (OHE)

The Office of Health Economics (OHE) is a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (registered number 09848965) and its registered office is at 7th Floor Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QT. OHE provides independent research, advisory and consultancy services on policy implications and economic issues within the pharmaceutical, health care and biotechnology sectors.
